  • The Palms had a lot to live up to by naming one of its towers the Fantasy Tower. But with the help of a special iconic bunny, a pair of nightclubs and some of the best meatballs this side of Italy, the billing certainly fits.

The Fantasy Tower is topped with three elements that will be all you need to complete your adventurous night in Las Vegas. The fine Italian restaurant, Nove Italiano, kicks the night off on the 51st floor, followed by the Playboy Club and Moon Nightclub, with nothing but an escalator between them.

    Playboy Club

Your girlfriend told you to scrap that subscription to Playboy Magazine. You rebuffed her by claiming you only get it for the articles and not to gawk at the artistically-nude coeds, who claim to enjoy long walks on the beach.

Surprise! She didn't buy that line.

Instead you had the mags sent to a friend's house. It's OK, we won't tell her.

But the lid will fly off when you take her to the Playboy Club inside the Palms on your trip to Vegas and you start naming off every Playmate in the iconic joint that got its start more than 50 years ago.

You see, at the Playboy Club if it's not the gorgeous Bunnies serving cocktails or dealing a hand of blackjack, it's the regular appearances by some of Playboy's finest. And if one of them doesn't happen to be there in person there are 60 plasma screens flashing photos of Playmates from the past.

The Playboy Club is everything you would have expected it to be if you had the chance to visit the venerable boîte in its heyday. Not only can you drop it like it's hot from the moment the elevator hits the 52nd floor of the Palms' Fantasy Tower until you see the sun rise, but you can drop a few bills on the tables while a voluptuous Bunny, complete with the classic white furry tail and ears, deals the hands.

Two main bars flank the club with one sitting at the edge, overlooking the party and the Vegas skyline. The other rests near the elevator and features a picturesque Playboy sign above it. (Hint: This bar, for whatever reason, usually isn't busy and is a great spot for group photos.)

The room is full of dark, masculine tones, plush-leather sofas and Baccarat crystal chandeliers. There are floor-to-ceiling windows that lend themselves to stunning views of the Las Vegas valley and Playboy insignia littered throughout the club -- including the windows, walls and everywhere in between -- that in the words of The Dude, "tied the whole room together."

If it weren't for those reminders that this is Playboy's flagship club you might think the club was a little over the top, but that Bunny keeps those thoughts from creeping in. After all, it was Playboy that brought you epic parties like the Midsummer's Night Dream Ball (which is also featured at the Palms once a year).

Additionally, there is a VIP area called the Fireplace Lounge with its own bar and, of course, a cozy fireplace.

The Playboy Club was once one of the most popular clubs in the world with locations in Chicago, New York and London, among others. The first club opened in Chicago in 1960 and the last club closed in 1991 before Hefner and the Palms teamed up to reboot the franchise.

"We made a deal to move into the Palms and I think it was the right choice," said Playboy founder Hugh Hefner when the club opened in 2006. "They are very successful at attracting a young, hip audience, from celebrities to high rollers."

Gone are the days that the Playboy Club required a membership, although keys are still given out to special dignitaries and celebrities. Now, guest can enjoy a night of partying Playboy style -- well, at least with their clothes on. Just leave your magazines behind, where your girlfriend won't find them.

    Moon

The Maloof family, which owns the Palms, could have been content with topping off the Fantasy Tower with the Playboy Club. Considering there's a giant bunny logo on the side of the tower and the infamous Playboy Sky Villa, there was plenty to be excited about.

Add that with the fact that no one, not rivals, girlfriends or wives have found a way to compete with the iconic name of Playboy, what makes the Palms think it could possibly contend?

Well, in reality, it didn't contend. They complemented the Playboy Club with Moon Nightclub, a body-to-body dance party paired up with a retractable roof and regular celebrity performances just an escalator ride away from Playboy.

This two-level, oasis of debauchery brings one of the hottest dance floors in all of Las Vegas. Interchanging lights flash on the dance floor below your feet as laser lights rip through the air with a number of different effects.

The dance floor is usually ripping at the seams with people, whose collective body heat makes for a sauna-like atmosphere. And, just then as your body feels like it's reaching its boiling point, the roof begins to slide open and the rush of fresh air cools the masses, allowing them to keep the party going.

The most attractive booths in the club are located parallel to the dance floor, leaving guests right in the midst of the action.

If you find yourself in need of a breather you can venture to the outer ring of the booth area that sits slightly elevated from the dance floor or venture outside to take in a breathtaking view of the Las Vegas valley.

There are two bars inside. The first will almost immediately welcome you upon descending the escalator from Playboy Club. The other rests up the spiral staircases to either side and is often open for VIP events.

The club itself sees a number of VIPs. Recently Snoop showed up to wish skater Ryan Sheckler a happy 21st birthday and stuck around to perform a few of his hits.

And with another option filled with Playboy Bunnies just an escalator away, you may want to think about establishing a permanent residence in one of the Palms Fantasy Suites.
